I heard about this country one year ago, as I mentioned earlier in Instagram and I did not mind visiting it. I do not mind visiting all the countries in the world, but well … plans for future haha. Officially, the country is called the Republic of Djibouti, the capital is also called Djibouti. Did you hear about this country before? The country looks very poor, but honestly I did not leave the hotel, so it’s just my observation on the way from the airport to the hotel.
Djibouti Palace Kempinski
We stayed at Djibouti Palace Kempinski and it was definitely one of the best hotels where I stayed. This 5 * hotel is built in oriental style and looks like an oasis in the middle of the desert. It feels like you arrived to another country. Indeed, a very huge contrast is felt … In this hotel there are 2 swimming pools, a spa, a gym, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, everything for a comfortable stay. Just one thing is missing there – the grocery store. It would be perfect, because the food is very expensive in the hotel. It’s the same as in Zanzibar, you will pay $ 30- $ 50 only for one dinner, you have no other choice, as the hotel is far from civilization.
I had a luxurious room. It looked like a separate apartment: a large living room, a bedroom, a small kitchen, a huge bathroom … a view from my window on the sea, or rather on the Gulf of Aden. Nobody was swimming there, maybe the water was not very clean. I watched ebb and flow from my room. During the daytime it is less of water and you can walk few miles, I saw some people walking and picking up some crabs, or maybe something else … and in the evening, water returns.
So, I will tell you about my room. There is a plasma TV in each room, there is a cooker in the kitchen, a washing machine, a teapot, everything like at home … large bathtub and separate shower, 2 separate washbasins, but 1 toilet)). And all this is decorated with mirrors and pictures in oriental style.
A huge wooden chest for clothes is next to the bed, like in old movies. This is a very luxurious room. When I ordered room service, waiter asked me if I am working for the US Embassy … Perhaps only ambassadors live in such rooms. By the way, many soldiers where is this hotel, they have a base here in Djibouti.
Assal lake is located not far from the capital, about 40 km. This lake is considered the third most saline lake in the world. It is also 155 m below sea level and is the lowest point in Africa. It is worth visiting Djibouti only because of this lake. Unfortunately, I did not go there, but it will be a reason to come back.
It is already the end of October, and the weather is +31 degrees. Therefore, if you are tired of autumn, Africa is the perfect holiday destination. Any country in Africa is beautiful. This continent is definitely one of my favorite, and I also love Australia … but I will talk about this in another post.
